White Oak and Leather
Wright designed a number of reclining chairs. All were similar but with some variations. I saw one of Wright's recliners with paneled sides and back at the Minneapolis Museum of Art. In the same room was a chair designed by Purcell and Elmslie for the Merchants National Bank of Winona, Minnesota that was all about spindles. The little wooden blocks that formed a pattern on the chair sides were very interesting to me.
This recliner is a merging of the two chairs. Quarters sawn white oak and leather upholstery.
